Research/Engagement Experience
I was involved in CS STARS during the 2022-2023 year on a research project to discover mindful language in guided meditation. Our main research objectives included: understanding the natural language used in guided meditation and how this language affects the mind and body; conducting exploratory analysis, including topic modeling and cross-collection topic modeling to analyze mindful language. We also performed analyses to discern descriptive and sensory associations in our data.

Interests
Computational linguistics, Artificial Intelligence

Project Title
TBD

How did I get interested in Computer Science?
In high school, it was fascinating for me to imagine how computers perceive information. CS enabled me to potentially create an impact, and I want to pursue natural language processing through computing because it aligns with my interests in language and technology.

What social interests matter to me?
Lack of access to education, diversity in STEM

What is my most impactful college experience?
Taking a linguistics course (LING 270) on campus where I discovered an interest for NLP research!

These are a few of my favorite things!
I enjoy reading, drinking coffee, practicing piano, and listening to music!

Research Description
The project aims to develop an iOS application to help learn new languages by systematically examining LLM’s ability to product colloquial language, experiment with prompting to get the model to correct mistakes and converse, and develop the application for users.
