The 14th annual ACM Reflections | Projections conference kicks off October 3rd. The event, which annually brings together more than 500 students from across the country, is focused on providing students with a broader perspective on computer science.

With lectures and workshops on topics encompassing the past, present, and future of computing, conference attendees will hear from industry greats, visionary pioneers, cultural phenoms, and programmers making things happen in the trenches.

This year's speaker line-up includes:

In addition to the lectures, the event also includes a programming competition and a job fair.

The MechMania C++/AI programming competition pits teams of 3 people in a head-to-head double elimination battle to the finish. Teams use the ACM-provided API and framework to implement a 'Player' class that will compete with another Player in a virtual arena. The last team standing on Sunday afternoon is declared the winner.

For those looking for a somewhat more traditional venue in which to showcase their talents, the Reflections | Projections job fair features 25 premier computing and technology employers offering internships and full-time employment. During the event, companies like Yahoo!, Facebook, Pelago, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, and NVIDIA network with students attendees to discuss career opportunities.
